SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has identified products with significant export potential produced in each district under the “District as Export Hub Scheme.” A comprehensive list of products has been compiled, featuring a total of 75 items from 20 districts across Jammu and Kashmir, poised for international markets.
In Kashmir, the Industries and Commerce Department has earmarked 43 products.
According to an official document, Anantnag district will promote four products under the District as Export Hub Scheme: cricket bats, walnuts, Mushk Budji, honey, red chillies, and trout fish.
From Bandipora, the administration has chosen trout fish, honey, black cumin, and crewel-based shawls for potential exports to international markets.
Kani shawls, sozni, and crewel have been selected from Budgam district to be promoted under the District as Export Hub Scheme.
In Ganderbal district, wicker willow, trout fish, and Kani shawls are among the chosen products slated for promotion under the scheme.
Kupwara has enlisted red rice and walnuts for export under the scheme.
Pulwama, renowned for saffron, and Shopian, famed for apples, will export these two products to international markets under the District as Export Hub Scheme.
Srinagar, the capital city, has identified 11 products for promotion worldwide, including walnut wood carving, silk, honey, silk carpets, strawberries, chain-stitch leather, pashmina, bakery products, kani shawls, paper mache, and copperware under the District as Export Hub Scheme.
In the Jammu division, various products such as Basmati rice, mushrooms, bamboo, pickles, walnuts, Rajmah, honey, and others have been enlisted under the scheme.
An official stated that these products would receive the necessary promotion to enhance their exports. He added, “The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization is actively working to promote all these products, many of which already enjoy a strong reputation in international markets, while the government is actively working to promote the remaining products under the scheme.”
