SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal on Friday flagged off the 15th annual Gangbal Yatra organised by Harmukh Ganga Gangbal Trust. The Yatra commenced from Naranag base camp in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Quoting an official, KNO reported that DC Ganderbal Shyambir who was accompanied by SSP Ganderbal flagged off the Yatra at the base camp this morning.
He said that the pilgrims from across the country will reach Gangbal, at an altitude of 14,500 feet, by evening.
He said that that special puja was held at the base camp, while administration has made all arrangements for successful conduct of the Yatra.
The Yatra was revived in 2009 after two centuries with the efforts of All Party Migrant Coordination Committee and later a sole trust Harmukh Ganga Gangbal Trust was established which conducts the Yatra every year.
