SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district have registered a case of abetment to suicide in connection with the death of an aged man due to critical burn injuries.
The deceased Sain Dass (70) resident of Pathanmorha Dassal in Rajouri received critical burn injuries on Sunday evening at around 08:45 PM and was taken to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri where doctors declared him as brought dead.
“Disturbed over a prolonged land dispute with his neighbour, Dass committed suicide by setting himself afire in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district,” police said.
The body of the deceased was taken into possession by police and kept in the mortuary of GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri where post post-mortem examination was conducted on Monday morning by a board of doctors. Cremation and last rites of the deceased were conducted at his native village on Monday late afternoon.
Eatlier, family members of the deceased including his son and sister alleged that the deceased Sain Dass was murdered by neighbours over a land dispute, which was going on for more than half a decade.
A case under FIR number 410/2023 under section 306,109 IPC was registered instantly in Police Station Rajouri and accused Pawan Kumar has been arrested, said police—(KNO)
