SRINAGAR: Traffic Police in Srinagar directed e-rickshaw drivers on Tuesday to comply with traffic laws and avoid overcharging and overloading passengers. After the drivers agreed to follow the guidelines from the office of the Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, City Srinagar, slogans were raised in support of the directions.
During a media interaction at the Traffic office, e-rickshaw drivers expressed their gratitude for a patient hearing and issue resolution provided by SP Traffic of Srinagar City. These drivers had been raising their concerns for the past few days.
The instructions given to the e-rickshaw drivers were to operate smoothly on the designated routes while ensuring no overcharging and overloading.
In response to the matter, SP Traffic, Muzaffar Shah said that he has guided the e-rickshaw drivers to adhere to traffic laws and avoid overloading and overcharging.
“E-Rickshaw is a public transport, and they should ply in accordance with the law. We have not given them any specific route instructions as they can ply on the already designated routes,” he said.
He further added, “The e-rickshaw drivers should install the number plates and complete all formalities with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), after which they can ply normally on the routes.” (KNO)
