SRINAGAR: Intense thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall struck Jammu and its neighbouring areas last evening, resulting in widespread damage to public property. Although there were no reports of casualties or injuries, the storm left a trail of destruction in its wake.
In the Greater Kailash area, a scooter ended up suspended approximately 15 feet above the ground, entangled in electric lines. News of this extraordinary sight quickly spread across the entire city, attracting crowds from far and wide who were eager to witness the peculiar spectacle.
Sana, an employee at Planet Beauty Salon and the owner of the scooter asserted that the storm was responsible for the entanglement of her two-wheeler in the wires.
Numerous trees and utility poles were uprooted at various locations, causing significant disruption to the electricity infrastructure. Power supply remained severed for several hours due to the extensive damage inflicted on the electrical network. The aftermath of the storm revealed toppled poles and uprooted trees in Sainik Colony, Sector-6 of Channi Himmat, Sector 7 of Nanak Nagar, and other surrounding areas of Jammu.
Reports emerged of temporary shelters suffering severe damage, and a BSNL tower in the Bishnah area collapsing onto nearby houses, resulting in structural cracks.
