SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for individuals whose information can help nab the killers of lawyer Babar Qadri. He was killed by two assailants at his Hawal residence in Srinagar on September 24, 2020.
“A cash reward of Rs 10,00,000 is offered to those who provide information leading to the arrest of the individuals involved in the tragic killing of senior advocate Babar Qadri, the son of Mohd Yasin Qadri from Zahidpora, Hawal, Srinagar,” a public notice issued by the Chief Investigation Officer of SIT said on September 9. “Qadri lost his life to terrorists on September 24, 2020, at his residence.”
The notice assured that the identity of the individual providing information shall be kept “highly confidential”. The notice shared the cell phone number 9103998467 for passing the information.
The police have already registered a case under FIR No 62/2020 U/S 302 IPC 7/27 IAA 13/16/18/20/39 UAPA at the police station Lalbazar Srinagar, which is now being investigated by the SIA Kashmir. A special investigation team is probing the killing since August 2021.
Apatrt from being a lawyer, Qadri was also a TV debater.
In 2021, the Police had claimed that Saqib Manzoor, a commander of proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved Qadri’s assassination. Manzoor was killed in an encounter in Srinagar.
