SRINAGAR: In Srinagar, scores of JK Bank ATM guards appeared in the press enclave on Wednesday and staged a protest against the disengagement of their services and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The protesting bank guards alleged that the bank has installed CCTV cameras within the bank premises and inside the ATMs, following which they have been asked to resign from their posts.
“We have been asked to resign from our posts. We have been working as ATM guards for decades now. We not only guard the ATMs but also help people in operating these machines. We have been left in lurch after the bank asked us to resign,” they said.
Stating that there is no need for digitization in case it ends up snatching the jobs of employed people, the protesters said, “We are here to request the J&K Bank authorities and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led administration to intervene and ensure justice is delivered as we have been working for the last 20 years and if we become jobless our families will starve.” (KNO)
