SRINAGAR: Early results suggest that two LAHDC seats were won by the National Conference and the BJP also secured a seat, reports reaching from Kargil said.
The counting for LAHDC polls started early Sunday morning and it is in progress. By around 4 pm, all results are expected to be ready.
Reports said BJP won one berth of Khangral where Padma Dorje was declared successful. Dorjey polled 1007 votes. Dorjey won Stakchay Khangral Constituency with a voting margin of 177 votes, he received 1007 votes, followed by Syed Hassan (INC) 830 votes and Ghulam Hussain (JKNC) 479 votes. A total of 2656 votes were cast in the constituency.
At two other seats, NC members won. These included Padum which was wrested by Phunsok Tashi and Bhimbhat where Abdul Wahid was declared successful. The National Conference won Padum, where Punchok Tashi polled 1745 votes against 1691 polled by BJP candidate Skalzang Wangyal.
Wahid defeated BJP, Congress and an independent candidate. Wahid polled 1947 votes against 1895 of Talib Hussain of Congress. BJP candidate Bilal Ahmed got only 103 votes.
LAHDC has 30 seats of which only 26 go for direct polls. The remaining four members are nominated by the administration wand they enjoy voting rights.
