SRINAGAR: The PHE department, now the Jal Shakti has dismissed a cashier for his alleged involvement in embezzlement, reports in the media said. He is accused of fraud involving Rs 1.63 crore.
Identified as Nikhil Gandral, his dismissal orders from the service were issued by Shaleen Kabra, Financial Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary. The order has directed that the embezzled amount must be recovered from the employee.
Nikhil was serving PHE’s city division-I in Jammu and was placed under suspension on December 12, 2019. Later a four-member committee was appointed to probe into his dealings in the period April 1, 2019 and October 31, 2019. The dismissal orders were issued after the panel submitted its report.
