SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department is likely to withhold the “Annual Increment” of teaching faculty members who have performed poorly in the annual regular results of 10th and 12th standards.
Senior officials of the department informed news agency KNO that the School Education Department has not set any criteria for determining the performance in the annual regular results of 10th and 12th standards.
“However, we have requested a report from the respective CEOs regarding the schools and teaching staff who have not met the expectations and requirements,” the official said.
The official also mentioned that the government will soon make a decision on this matter.
On Tuesday, the CEO of Kathua stated that the Annual Increment should not be released for any teaching staff member whose result is below 50 percent.
“As the academic session 2022-2023 has concluded and the results of classes 8th to 12th have been announced, the annual increment for most of the teaching staff is due on 1st July 2023,” the CEO of Kathua said.
Accordingly, the officer directed the concerned DDOs of the School Education Department in Kathua district not to release the Annual Increment for any teaching staff member whose “result is below 50 percent until further directions are received from higher authorities.”
Earlier, an official stated, “The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has instructed all the relevant stakeholders to release and approve the Annual Increment based on the performance of their respective schools.”
A day prior, the CEO of Anantnag, in a circular, informed all the DDOs under its administrative control to submit the result percentages of the 10th and 12th classes in their schools and institutions within one week.
The CEO also mentioned that the concerned individuals should submit an application for the release and approval of the Annual Increment, which will be granted based on the performance achieved during the academic year 2022-23.
“The DDOs should follow the same procedure for their subordinate staff and release the Annual Increment accordingly,” it stated.
Earlier, KNO reported that the government will question and seek explanations, as well as reasons, from the teachers of public schools who have performed poorly in the 10th and 12th standard results.
Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, Alok Kumar, stated that the department will provide training to such teachers so that they can improve their results.
“We will seek explanations from teachers of schools where the results of the 10th and 12th standards are not up to the standard,” Kumar said.
The principal secretary further stated that the department was aware of such schools. “We will address the issue.”
