Not IED, But Old Mortar Shell Recovered In North Kashmir: Police

SRINAGAR: There wasn’t any improvised explosive device (IED) but an old mortar shell which was recovered by BSF in Handwara, police said.

“An information was generated wherein a Road Opening Party of BSF said it recovered an ‘IED’ in the general area of Bhatpura village near a culvert”, a police official said, adding “However on a close assessment, the recovered ammunition turned out to be an old mortar shell.”

“The recovered shell may have been lying at the site for quite a time”, the official further said. (GNS)
